Alabama native and Boys & Girls Club executive Hank Hill has been named the new chief professional officer at the Boys & Girls Club of the Cumberland Plateau.
Hill replaces Rhonda Wright, whose employment with the club ended in August.
The Boys & Girls Club of Scott County’s Board of Directors made the announcement of Hill’s hire Sunday. Hill is expected to assume his duties at the local club in late October.
“Hank is a wonderful man with an equally wonderful young family,” Boys & Girls Club spokesperson Dr. Elizabeth Kline Burress said. “We look forward to welcoming them to our community and making them a full-fledged part of it.”
Hill comes to Scott County after leaving his post as the Gordon County Area Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Gordon, Murray & Whitfield Counties in Georgia.
A graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, Hill has worked with the Boys & Girls Club organization since 2001. Among his experience with the Boys & Girls Club is graduation of the BGCA’s Advanced Leadership School of Management.
Heavily involved in his church and school communities, Hill is also an educator, having taught homebound children at the elementary and high school levels earlier in his career.
“We feel that Hank’s BGC experience and enthusiasm positions us for directed and continued success at the Boys & Girls Club of the Cumberland Plateau,” Burress said.
Hill’s involvement in his native state includes the Alabama Marine Police, Forestry Service, National Wild Turkey Federation, Kiwanis Club and local schools and churches. He and his wife, Amanda, have two children.
“I believe in the mission of the Boys & Girls Club, and the people of Scott County should be proud of themselves for providing such a positive place for kids,” Hill said. “The future of this community enters our doors every day, and I am blessed and honored to be charged with this most important work.
“Great Futures Start Here is the slogan for our club, and I am looking forward to working with the highly devoted board, staff and community leaders who want our youth to succeed,” he added.
Hill will attend the annual BGC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Boys & Girls Club.
